Homalium ceylanicum (Salicàcies) és present als boscos perennifolis i semicaducifolis del sud de l’Índia i de Sri Lanka d’on és originària. També es troba a Bangladesh, Laos. Myanmar, Nepal, Tailàndia i Vietnam. Les diverses parts de la planta tenen molts usos medicinals tradicionals i inclouen accions hepatoprotectores antiinflamatòries, analgèsiques, antioxidants antihelmíntiques, antidiabètiques, citotòxiques, cicatritzants i antireumàtiques.
